Abstract

Innovative methods for digital measuring of waterway structures. Since December 2018 the research project “3D HydroMapper”, funded by BMVI, is operated to improve the basic concepts of the data acquisition to be carried out in structural inspection, design and construction activities for waterway structures using scanned 3-D data. Based on 3D HydroMapper, novel positioning and routing methods in connection with an active object sensor alignment should be used in order to create BIM capable inventory data of structures. First results show that the 3-D scanning of structures and construction sites are very beneficial. Thanks to the information collected with the innovative measuring platform and a special multi-sensor system, the operators, planners and construction companies can be supported by complete, reliable and three-dimensional as-built data and their obtained BIM models.
