Abstract

This article is about a comprehensive approach on structural monitoring of large buildings using the example of the ship-lift facility (SHW) in Luneburg. In this project traditional geodetic surveying technologies as well as highly precise techniques known from mechanical engineering hove been used. In case of the SHW Luneburg the solid building part was surveyed by extensometers, inclinometers, precise plumbing and automated measuring systems in parallel. In addition to this, laser trackers have been used to measure changes regarding the drives. Besides the measurement the comprehensive modelling of the deformation behavior of the solid building and the mechanical parts of the facility was a major scope of the project. The deformations of the whole building were afterwards being described based on this model. Additionally, the remaining tolerances were derived for the drives of the liftable troy.
