Introduction into Geodetic Data Analysis and Adjustment Computations
This module aims at explaining statistical concepts and adjustment methods that enable the students to model and adjust geodetic observations. In addition, methods of evaluating the quality of adjustment results, as well as of inferring decisions therefrom are provided. After successful completion of this module, the students are able to state definitions, laws and computation rules, to give an overview of typical adjustment approaches, to explain standard adjustment models generally or for simple examples, to analyse data sets with regard to suitable adjustment models and analysis techniques and to interpret adjustment results correctly .
Module Contents
- characteristics of geodetic measurement data
- concepts of probability theory
- matrix calculus
- propagation of measurement uncertainty
- concepts of adjustment theory
- Gauss-Markov model
- Gauss-Helmert model
- testing of linear hypotheses and outlier detection
