The combination of complementary and supplementary sensors into multi-sensor systems (MSS) is essential for efficient object detection. The sensors can be divided into object-detecting and referencing sensors.
Terrestrial laser scanners (TLS) are used as object-detecting sensors. Referencing is primarily performed by sensors such as modern tachymeters, laser trackers and navigation sensors (GNSS, inertial measurement units).
