The Geodetic Institute uses terrestrial laser scanners to familiarise students with the laser scanning process and the practical use of the instruments. The scanners are also used for research projects. The focus of the investigations is on the possibilities for detecting deformations and kinematic applications. Building movements are observed and analysed in terms of surface area, profile or individual point measurements. In kinematic applications, the scanner is installed on moving platforms and can thus continuously capture the environment from the movement.
