Abstract

This article introduces and motivates the quality assurance of multi-sensor-systems (MSS). It is shown that quality assurance for MSS in general as well as in particular for kinematic MSS with laser scanners (k-TLS) as object capturing sensors is a complex interoperation of the involved sensors as well as the data analysis process. The sensors form the fundament for the data quality. By a justified measurement process with respect to the object one can minimize object space based influences. One or the crucial role in the scope of MSS is related to the sensor fusion. The validation of quality parameters plays a crucial role in the scope of the quality assurance. A forward modelling based on Monte-Carlo simulations is shown for a terrestrial laser scanner. Also a backward modelling using reference geometries is discussed for an exemplary k-TLS based MSS. To both modelling variants results are presented and discussed.
