The 1st International Workshop on the Quality of Geodetic Observation and Monitoring Systems (QuGOMS) will be organized by the study groups IC-SG2 and IC-SG3 of the Intercommission Committee on Theory (ICCT) of the International Association of Geodesy (IAG). Besides its strong relations to all IAG Commissions it is also in the scope of FIG Commissions 5 and 6. The workshop will be held in Garching/Munich, Germany, 13.-15. April, 2011.

Topics

  • Uncertainty modeling of geodetic data
    •  Identification and mathematical definition of uncertainty and quality properties
    •  Classical & Bayesian approaches, also according to international standards
    •  Fuzzy-based approaches for propagation and analysis of uncertainty
  • Theoretical studies on combination strategies and parameter estimation
    • Functional modeling and relative weighting
    •  Estimation and optimization techniques
    •  Sensitivity of different monitoring techniques for natural and technical objects
Synergies between observations and simulation models
    Recursive state-space filtering
    •  Classical state space prediction and filtering (e.g., Extended Kalman filters)
Alternative nonlinear filtering techniques as Bayesian filters, particle filters
Filtering algorithms with respect to data imprecision as fuzzy state-space filters
Sensor networks and multi sensor systems in engineering geodesy
    •  Construction process modeling and control
    •  Machine control and guidance
    • Mobile and rapid mapping of technical environments
    • Geodetic monitoring for detection, analysis and interpretation of deformations
    • Multi-mission approaches with view to physical processes in the Earth system
      •  Separation of integral observations of gravity field, Earth rotation and surface geometry into contributions of individual geodynamic processes
      •  Inconsistencies of mass and momentum budgets in the Earth system
      •  Analysis methods for time variations and quality of global spatial data sets
      •  Combination of information from space-based, air-borne and terrestrial sensors
      •  Error propagation from heterogeneous observations to Earth system quantities
